[SHORT FILM]

GO HAM

48-HOUR FILM FESTIVAL

AWMI Films Inc. participated in its 1st 48-hour film festival and created a short film about a young woman who discovers her grandmother’s old phone—and answers a mysterious call.

GO HAM is a short film created by the AWMI Films team for this year’s 48-Hour Film Festival (2025). This was the team’s 1st time participating in the 48, and we definitely learned a lot by forcing ourselves to complete a short film in a single weekend.

It started off on Friday night, when we were handed our genre, theme, and three required elements, and by Sunday evening, we had to deliver a fully finished 3-minute and 15-second film. No second chances, no extensions, just pure creativity under pressure.

From the moment the clock started, our team locked into an energy that carried us through the entire weekend. Ideas were flying, people were volunteering for everything, and everyone pushed way beyond what a normal production timeline would ever require. Somehow, despite the chaos, the laughter, and the gallons of coffee, the process ran like a well-oiled machine. Every shot we needed, we got, with almost no hiccups. It was the kind of fast-paced, hands-on learning experience that only a challenge like this can offer.

What truly made the weekend unforgettable, though, was how naturally everyone came together. Each person brought something different to the table, and instead of slowing us down, it made the whole experience richer, more collaborative, and honestly just fun. Fun in the “everyone-is-exhausted-but-still-laughing-at-2-a.m.” kind of way. Fun in the “we’re actually doing this!” way. And by the time GO HAM wrapped, we knew we had made something we could all be proud of.

We walked away from the 48-Hour Film Festival with a film, yes, but also with momentum, shared memories, and a team that proved what can be done when everyone goes all-in. We can’t wait to do it again next year…
